Introduction

Welcome to the Frank Kiang Medical Center, a new satellite clinic of Asian Health Services. Conveniently located on the East side of Lake Merritt, we offer a full range of medical services.

At the Frank Kiang Center, the most important person is you the patient. Our goal is to help you improve your health. We give you the knowledge to better understand your health condition. We support and guide you so that you are able to take good care of yourself.

Founded in 1974, the mission of Asian Health Services is to provide quality health care to our patients, regardless of income, insurance status, or language spoken.

Special Programs


Integrative Medicine

Integrative medicine considers the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), all aspects of lifestyle, and the community in support of a patient’s inherent capacity to heal. It utilizes all appropriate therapies, including acupuncture and manual medicine, preferring natural, effective and less invasive interventions whenever possible. Our integrative medicine is delivered by physicians with specialized training.


Health Coaches

Patients with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol receive care from our Health Coaches. Our Health Coaches provide you with personalized, one-on-one care. During clinic visits, you will see a Health Coach in person. Between visits, our Health Coach will call you on the telephone. Health Coaches answer your questions, assist you in setting health goals, and give you encouragement and motivation to meet your goals.


Group Visits

At Group Visits, you the patient learn about topics such as nutrition, exercise, and how to care for your medical condition. Group Visits are led by a doctor and a patient educator. You are encouraged to participate in group discussion by asking questions and sharing your own experiences about how you take care of your health. Through Group Visits, patients learn from each other under the guidance of our medical professionals, make friends, and through these friendships provide community support for each other.


About Us

This clinic is named after Frank Kiang, Founder, Chairman & CEO of Metropolitan Bank. In addition to being a banker and entrepreneur, he was a community leader who worked tirelessly to raise the standing of Asian Americans locally and nationally. Mr. Kiang passed away in 2007 after a 5-year battle with cancer. This clinic is dedicated to his memory.

Frank Kiang Medical Center is made possible with funding by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, funds from the Consolidated Appropriations Act secured by Congresswoman Barbara Lee, and support from Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, Chevron, the Community Clinics Initiative of the Tides Foundation, and Alameda County.
