A MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

Dear Friends,

At Asian Health Services, we challenge ourselves daily to achieve excellence in health care. For us, that means unflagging adherence to specific tenets of clinical practice:

Comprehensive care. We offer a full range of services, from family and internal medicine to pediatrics, dental, and behavioral health. Our emphasis is on wellness and prevention. We employ a team-based approach to patient care with active communication among a team of health care providers.

Whole Person. Our view is each patient is a whole person. We strive to take into account not only a patient's health needs, but also her culture, values, and individual preferences. We believe a patient, as well as her family, is a participant in her treatment and care giving.

Coordination of care. The health care system is a complex one involving many parties enmeshed in a network of inter-dependent relationships. For the patient, it is often a bewildering system to comprehend and navigate. To better serve our patients, we coordinate care for our patients across the broader health system, including specialty care, hospitals, home health care, and payors.

Language & cultural access. We are a national model of culturally and linguistically competent health care services. More than 90% of our patients are limited English speakers. Collectively, our staff speaks English and ten Asian languages.

Information technology. We have completed Phase I of harnessing the power of information technology for the benefit of our patients. Our goal is to replace the traditional system of paper and pen with the more efficient electronic system of patient records, appointment making, prescription ordering, specialist referral, and the myriad tasks and transactions of a busy health center.

After 38 years of service to the community, one thing remains constant. From a one-room clinic staffed by volunteers to a multi-site health center with over 300 staff, we strive for excellence--then, now and always.
