I love working at Teen Clinic because it is a safe place for teens to get help on sensitive issues. We have a lot of returning clients because we have created an atmosphere where they feel they can trust us and that we won't judge them.

Many factors impact Asian Pacific Islander adolescents' health and life choices they make. Adolescent patients who come to AHS often face the challenge of conflicts that arise out of acculturation pressures, such as living as a "teenager" in the U.S. while also trying to maintain and follow traditional values of their immigrant family. Other challenges they face include intergenerational conflict, role reversal, and cultural taboos regarding dating. AHS strives to empower our adolescent patients to learn about and be engaged in their health care, whether it concerns obesity, reproductive health, sexually transmitted infections, safety, mental health, academic success or preventative health care.
